According to Ferdinand Omanyala’s coach, who spoke to the media on Thursday, Omanyala was given a last-minute visa to fly to the United States, allowing him to participate in the World Athletics Championships. Omanyala is now ranked as the fastest man in Africa.

“This morning at the ministry of sports, Omanyala was given the travel visa after being summoned there for an appointment. It is expected that he will be on the trip to Oregon tonight, with arrival scheduled for tomorrow early “coach Duncan Ayiemba was quoted as saying to AFP.

He will get some rest for a few hours before running in the heats of the 100-meter race on Friday, when he will hopefully qualify for the semi-finals and the finals.

The Kenyan sprinter, who is 26 years old and the third-quickest man in the world this season, had given up hope of participating by the time he was denied the travel visa required to go to the event in Eugene, Oregon. He was the third-quickest guy in the world this season.

On Wednesday, the organisers of the championship, Oregon22 and World Athletics, said that they were investigating visa concerns for certain competitors and added that the Covid-19 outbreak had made it more difficult for people to travel internationally.

Omanyala’s performance of 9.85 seconds in May places him in third place in the times ran so far this season, behind only the American combination of Fred Kerley and Trayvon Bromell.

In September of the previous year, he established a new record for Africa with a time of 9.77 seconds, which placed him as the ninth-fastest man in the history of the sport.

In a recent interview with AFP, he said that he planned to at least compete in the final of the 100-meter race in Oregon and that he was aiming for a timing of 9.6 seconds.
