Prosecutors said on Saturday that Mason Greenwood, a player for Manchester United, is accused of trying to sexually assault another person, acting dominantly and forcefully, and attacking another person.

The England player, who is 21 years old, is scheduled to make an appearance on Monday at the Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court, where he will be charged with three offences related to the same lady.

“The Crown Prosecution Service has given Greater Manchester Police permission to charge Mason Greenwood, 21, with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault that caused real bodily harm.” Greater Manchester Police have been permitted to press charges against 21-year-old Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service today.

After photos and videos of the footballer with a young woman were posted online in January, he was first detained on suspicion that he had sex with her.
