A missile strike caused significant damage to a critical power station in Ukraine’s capital region, the country’s grid operator said on Saturday.

This happened as the Russian military tried to cut off the power in faraway places where people lived while fighting off Ukrainian attacks in the seized territory.

The strike that hit an unknown location did not result in the death or injury of anyone. Ukrenergo, a company that handles energy transmission, said that repair workers tried to fix the problem, but they warned people that there may be more power outages.

Since the first invasion of Ukraine in late February, the Kremlin is thought to have launched what are considered to be its most important coordinated missile attacks in Ukraine. This attack came after an explosion caused by a truck bomb a week ago damaged the bridge that links Russia to the annexed Crimean Peninsula.

This week, dozens of people were killed by Iran’s large-scale retaliation attacks, some of which involved sending out explosive drones that would blow up on their own.

The strikes targeted residential structures and civic infrastructures such as power plants in Kyiv, Lviv in western Ukraine, and other towns across Ukraine. These cities have had a relatively low number of strikes over the past several months.

Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that his country doesn’t think there’s a need for new significant attacks but that his military will still do some. According to him, out of the 29 targets the Russian military wanted to destroy during the operations this week, seven were not damaged and will be destroyed in stages.
